April 10, 2012. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ: OIIM) was issued 16 claims under United States patent number 8,049,438 for its Light Source Driving Circuit methodology.

O2Micro's patented methodology drives light sources that enable LCD backlighting, needed to illuminate many display applications. Display applications comprise TVs, LCD monitors, notebooks, video cameras, mobile phones, PDAs, game machines, medical instruments, GPS navigation systems, and industrial machines.
